Jacquelyn M. “Jackie” (Mitchell) Gibilisco

Jacquelyn M. “Jackie” (Mitchell) Gibilisco

September 29, 1971 – August 20, 2018

Beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, godmother, friend . . . She was preceded in death by her parents, Phil Mitchell, and Mary Pat and Steve Piechota. She is survived by her husband, Michael Gibilisco; sister, Jennifer Mitchell; nephew, Haydon Kepler; mother-in-law, Cindy Goodin (Mike); sister-in-law, Jeri Ann Gibilisco (Dustin Miller); brother-in-law, Nathan Gibilisco (Caroline); and numerous family members and countless friends.

Jackie was born in Omaha, the first child of Phil and Mary Pat. She grew up in Omaha and attended St. James School and Millard North High School.  Jackie spent her early adult life enjoying the freedoms of being single, making friends who would become lifelong companions and loyal to the end.

In 2003, she left the single life behind when she met Mike. Jackie married Mike on September 25, 2004. They loved taking road trips and vacations together. They shared a lot of mutual interests, while simultaneously disagreeing about nearly all of their favorite sports teams. But no matter what, they had each other through everything. And although not a “dog” person when they got married, Jackie quickly fell in love with their first dog, Dudley and their second dog, Chance.

Jackie had a kind and beautiful soul—a friend to so many, an enemy to no one. She could brighten your whole day with her laugh or her amazing smile. She never laid her burdens on others but was quick to help anyone with theirs. Once she met you, she knew you well and was always more interested in hearing about you than talking about herself. She had many passions (her family and friends, the Cubs, Huskers and Seahawks, Softball and Music of all kinds), but she never cared more about anything than children. She loved all the kids in her life and would have dropped everything for any of them at any time. Her dream was to work with kids, in any capacity.

Please don’t grieve long for her. She wouldn’t want it that way. Her heart was filled with love and hope because of the people around her and she was always ready to share it. So, take that love and hope and hold it in your hearts. Or better yet, continue sharing it with all those you love. She recently spoke of how happy and content she had become in the last year. In her work, her home and her family she was finding peace and joy.

Jackie was an amazing woman. I worked with her for the past year and I never once heard her say a negative thing about anyone. She was a great co-worker who taught me much about how to treat others! May God be wrapping his loving arms wrapped around her and may her family find peace in knowing she has gone home to someone who loves her more so much more than they do. Rest in Peace my friend!

My heart is too, broken from the loss of Jackie, we worked together since February. She was the bedrock of our department and meant so much to everyone at the firm. She was filled with love everyday she came into work. Her love of Cubs baseball was unmatched and I am so blessed to have known such an amazing person.

For the short time I’ve known Jackie, she made a big impact on my life. She was so positive and simply outgoing, I feel truly blessed to have crossed paths with her, she will be missed.

Jackie’s was always Radiant, Kind, Welcoming and Supportive. She said what she thought and what she felt and stood up for what was right. Amazing sense of humor…. I was always laughing when she was around. Never one to judge another, but just accept you as you are..! Always listening, pushing a positive outlook and being that cheerleader when you needed it. I saw her do this for many others including myself as well….. What an Outstanding Lady…! I will miss you my friend.

My deepest condolences and I pray for Grace and Peace for the family during this time.

I absolutely adored Jackie from the day I met her, 20-plus years ago. She was SO funny… had the best laugh… possessed such a genuine kindness… and was simply a helpful and generous soul. I will miss her dearly. Prayers of comfort for Mike, and everyone else who loved her.

  • Tera Albert Posted August 21, 2018 4:49 pm

Jackie was an amazing person who touched the lives of everyone around her. Her laugh and positive attitude along with how kind and caring she was made her such an amazing person. I will always cherish the friendship we have had over the last 12 years. It was one of a kind. You will be missed my dear friend. You are gone, but will never be forgotten.

Jackie was an amazing and very kind woman who was taken too soon. I’m so sorry for your families loss.

  • Jill Recker Posted August 21, 2018 4:59 pm

I had the privilege of being Jackie’s friend for many years. Jackie was & always will be one most kind people I’ve ever known. Jackie’s laugh & smile automatically made you happy the second you saw her. She’s the type of friend that no matter what was going on in her life, she was there for you. Over the past several years, I didn’t get to spend as much time with Jackie as I would have liked but I will forever be grateful that we were able to spend a lot of time together a day before she went to Heaven. When we were “catching up” we didn’t miss a beat. That was Jackie – always with a kind word, a sarcastic joke, anything to make you smile. She was a friend who really listened. Jackie didn’t talk about herself a lot because she was always concerned about you. I love you Jackie. You will always be in my heart, prayers, & memories.

  • Patti Allen Posted August 21, 2018 5:08 pm

Jackie, You will truly be missed by all. Your way with words that made it impossible to have a bad day when you were around. Always smiling! Your way of taking others under your wing and making them feel like family. You were one of a kind! We all know that all in heaven with you will all smile and laugh now that you are there with them. As all that were blessed to have you in their lives here have whenever you were near! As hard as It may be for everyone that was close to Jackie to fight back the tears you know she wouldn’t want any one to be sad. I can hear her now cracking a joke and saying it will be okay

  • Douglas Lederer Posted August 21, 2018 9:38 pm

Jackie was one of the first people, I met when I started my job. She was instantly a friend , a mentor and someone who could brighten the gloomiest of days. I made a point of always saying hi on my way in and bye on my way out. I will miss her every day, and think of her often (and I might even quietly cheer for the Cubs except when they play the cardinals -sorry Jackie).

  • Kathi Wingstad Posted August 22, 2018 6:18 am

  • Anne Larson Hughes Posted August 22, 2018 7:03 am

  • Jamison Jones Posted August 22, 2018 7:15 am

Even though I work for the same company I don’t recall ever meeting Jackie in person. I just wanted to let her family and friends know I’m praying for peace and comfort in this difficult time. God Bless.

My deepest sympathies to Jackie’s family. She was truly a bright light that is now shining down on us from heaven. You will be missed by all you came in contact with at Securities America. Rest in peace kind, beautiful Jackie.

  • Nathan Bridges Posted August 22, 2018 7:18 am

I am thankful to have met someone like Jackie. She will be missed and always remembered for her great personality and kindness.

  • Doug Carroll Posted August 22, 2018 8:18 am

Jackie was a light within the Securities America family. Her love for baseball and the Cubs is what I remember the most about Jackie. She was always there to lighten up the mood, encourage a peer to get better and build their confidence, or just be there to lend an ear for listening. Jackie was a person that was a leader within all that she did and she will truly be missed.

  • Tatiana Hill Posted August 22, 2018 8:33 am

The most beautiful person I have ever met! Jackie had the most amazing attitude, such incredible energy, and a sassy soul. To say “I worked with her” is such a bland statement. She truly inspired me in so many ways. She would always tell me how much she “Appreciated me”, but in reality, I didn’t appreciate her enough. I will miss showing her pictures of my daughter Ember and her saying “Stahpp, look at her! She is a doll!” We miss you so much Jackie! Much love to your family.

  • Laurie Posted August 22, 2018 12:29 pm

. I send prayers and loving thoughts to all of Jackie’s family. May God bring to you all his love and healing as only he can.

  • Jannelle Davey Posted August 23, 2018 7:58 am

I have not been with Securities America very long but Jackie left a dent in my world. She made me feel so comfortable and at ease with my job. She was infectious and could brighten the day just with her smile. I am so happy to have known her and will miss her personality and how she could make you laugh till you cried. Thank you Jackie for your advice and knowledge on the job and sharing your loving spirit with everyone that had the privilege of you shining your light on. Rest in Heaven.

Jackie you were such a special lady. Thank you for always being there for everyone. You always spoke your peace, always gave so much of yourself to your friends and family. You were Aunt Jackie to Garrett and Tess and the best friend and more to Justin and especially Cary. I love you for that and more… You will always be missed and loved deeply. I was blessed to have known you and so glad I got to give you a hug the last time I saw you at the ball game. I just watched the Cubs game and immediately went to Jackie’s page to text her. I had no idea of her loss and am shocked and heartbroken. I met her in 1984 after i moved to Omaha and she made me feel right at home there. She was one of my best friends at Millard N. We still maintained a friendship since then and always talked about the College WS, her Cubs, and my Cardinals and ASU. my condolences to her family, she was a wonderful person.
