James E. Black
June 6, 1937 – April 19, 2023
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverley; sisters, Becky Coolman and Jan Wager; grandson, Joshua Black.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children: James Black Jr. (Lori), Kevin Black (Sue), Kelly Bailey (Ralph), Melanie Schrack (Tom), Morgan Whale (Laura); grandchildren: Michael (Christina), Christopher, Bailey (Austin), Tristan, Lindsay (Kenny), Betsy and Josh; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen McEvoy (Tom) and Joan Ferry (Rod).
Funeral: Friday, April 28, 2023, 11:00AM at West Center Chapel with a visitation starting at 10:00AM.
Interment: Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

It was my great pleasure and honor to serve with Master Chief Black for many years in the Navy Reserve. He was a good man, a natural leader, and a friend. I would have gone to sea with him any time, anywhere. Fair winds and following seas Jim.
