James E. Kilroy
January 8, 1960 – February 2, 2025
James “Jim” Edward Kilroy was born in Encino, California, to James Joseph Kilroy and Miriam “Eileen” Kilroy on January 8, 1960. Jim grew up with his two siblings, Robert and Deirdre in southern California. He attended St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic school in Burbank, where he excelled in math and began developing his lifelong passions for cars, pro baseball, and poker.
Jim met his wife, Maria in California, and they married in 1985. Their daughter. Christina was born in 1986. During this time, he worked driving furniture delivery trucks for Sears. After moving to Overland Park, Kansas, with Christina and Eileen in 1994, Jim began pursuing his undergraduate degree in accounting at Avila College. He also began working at Farmland Industries, where he met his wife, Judy. They married in 1998.
That same year, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. In 2000, their daughter, Courtney was born. After, Jim began pursuing his graduate degree at Park University in business administration. The move to Kansas City also ignited his dedication to the Kansas City Chiefs football team that would become a core tenet of his hobbies, home decor, wardrobe, and conversation for the rest of his life.
Jim, Judy, and Courtney moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 2005. Throughout his career, Jim worked in accounting and administration for companies like ConAgra, Becton-Dickinson, PayPal, and, most recently, NatureWorks. This career took him all around the state of Nebraska. He moved from Omaha to Kearney to Ravenna to Columbus back to Omaha, pursuing new opportunities in his career and the excitement he felt when undertaking new projects and adventures.
To his friends, family, and colleagues, Jim was known for an at-times-tough exterior that gave way to a person filled with laughter and love for his family. He enjoyed traveling, puzzles of all kinds, a good steak, and the Eagles. He found the most joy in Sunday breakfasts with his daughters and grandchildren, finding new car and home-renovation projects to work on, and watching the Chiefs win on Sunday evenings.
Jim passed away at Lakeside Hospital on February 2, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eileen.
He is survived by his daughters, Christina Kilroy (Larry Kousgard) and Courtney Kilroy; as well as his grandchildren: Elijah, Katie, Danielle, and Charlotte; brother, John Robert Kilroy.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Jim and he was great! He was so smart and funny (once I broke through his tough exterior). He was just a pleasure to work with and talked fondly of his grandkids very often. I will miss him and you all are in my prayers.
I am so sad to hear of Jim’s passing. I previously worked with him at Natureworks. He would often talk about his daughters and his granddaughters and was so extremely proud of his family. Jim will be missed very much. I am very sorry and my prayers are with all of you at this time.
