James Francis Becker was born on October 9, 1931 in Spalding, Nebraska to Herman and Hubertina Becker.  He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Norfolk. He enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. After the war, he was employed by Northwestern Bell as a telephone lineman and supervisor where he worked for over 35 years until retiring in 1989.

He was extremely proud of his family and his marriage of 62 years to the love of his life, Betty.  He was often seen with his iPad where he never missed the opportunity to show pictures of his family and particularly his grandchildren.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing and gardening.  Everyone benefited from the abundance of tomatoes from his garden.  He loved his many trips to Las Vegas with his family and friends.

He was an avid sports fan.  He was often seen with his headphones listening to the Huskers, Creighton and the KC Royals games on his Walkman.   He loved going to Husker football game films at Holy Cross.  He was a very friendly, outgoing, loving man who would go out of his way to help people.

He is survived by his wife Betty Becker; children: Deb Williams, Jim Becker (Barb), Kristie Dye (Ron) and Mike Becker (Kendra); eight grandchildren: Becky Kelly (Jim), Kaleigh Williams, Ryan Becker (Jessica), Tyler Becker (Sammie), Emily Dye, Jacob Dye, Bailey Becker and Natalie Becker; six great-grandchildren: Landon Becker, JP Kelly, Reese Kelly, Kerrigan Kelly, Tyler Becker and Drew Becker; sister, Genevieve Hodge; brother-in-law, Leon Dutch Rutjens and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Pearson; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hubertina Becker; brothers: Jerry Becker and Leonard Becker; sisters: Genrose Werkmeister, Henrietta Rutjens, and Irene Dotson; son-in-law, Don Williams.

We are so sorry for your loss. Uncle Jim was a great guy. We remember the times he and Aunt Betty would drive to the farm to see Mom and Dad. Jim would always lend a hand at fixing things for them.
