James Henry “Jim” Huston
December 13, 1926 – August 20, 2019
James “Jim” Henry Huston, 92, of Omaha, NE passed away on Tuesday, August 20th from complications of pneumonia. He was born in Casper, Wyoming on December 13th to Robert and Dorothy Huston. Jim graduated from Sprague-Martell Central High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in physics at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. Jim married his wife, Jeannie, at the Methodist Church in Martell, Nebraska. Jim served his country in the Navy during World War II. For 38 years he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers (Missouri River Division). Jim also coached and umpired baseball and softball teams for several years. He received the Del Popken Award for his contribution to the Hillside Little League. Jim was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. An avid golfer and sports fan, Jim’s favorite teams included the Chicago Cubs, the New York Yankees, the KC Royals, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jeannie, and son, Tim (Karen). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lorie.
The family would like to thank the staff on 7 South at Methodist Hospital for the excellent care they provided to Jim and Jeannie.
VISITATION: Tuesday, August 27th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES: Wednesday, August 28th at 11am, West Center Chapel. GRAVESIDE SERVICE with military honors: Wednesday, 2pm at Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Road. Military honors by Benson VFW Post 2503 and US Navy Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Humane Society.
