James “Jim” L. Camenzind

October 20, 1942 – August 17, 2022

James (Jim) L. Camenzind passed away on August 17, 2022, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; Betty and John Camenzind, brother John Camenzind, sisters, Mary Liz Clark, and Margie Pitner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Charlene, his daughters, Sandra (Dan, Jr.) Koch and Christina (David) Ochsner and three grandsons Jakob Smith, James and Thomas Ochsner as well as his two granddaughters Claire and Emma Koch, brother Joe (Judy) Camenzind, sisters Annie (Dan) Doyle, Bobbie (Steve) Owens, sister-in-law Joanne Camenzind, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Born on October 20, 1942, Jim grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country. In 1968 he met his future wife, Charlene. They were married on November 21, 1970, in Cushing, Iowa. Jim and Charlene raised two daughters Sandra Koch and Christina Ochsner.

Jim enjoyed a long career at the Omaha VA Medical Center. He retired on his 58th birthday. Jim spent his next several years showing horses, trail riding with friends, traveling, and enjoying time with his grandkids. He participated in the River City Roundup Trail Ride more than 25 times and attended as many team penning events as he could.

He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His love of a good joke always brought smiles to a room.

He leaves us with a legacy of humor, and a love for family. He will be missed greatly.
