In loving memory of…
James L. Bennett
March 20, 1946 – April 28, 2025
James (Jim) Lee Bennett, passed away peacefully on Monday April 28, 2025, in Bellevue, NE at the age of 79. He was born on March 20, 1946, in Hot Springs, SD and was raised in nearby Oelrichs, SD before moving to Omaha, NE in his youth. He graduated from Creighton Prep in 1964 and later served in the Army National Guard. He married Terri Robinson in 1969 and together they raised their family in Ralston, NE. With his children, he was a steadfast coach and mentor through all stages of their lives. He spent most of his career with Premier Midwest (formerly Nebraska Distributing), selling and distributing beer to local stores and bars, earning him many friends across the Omaha metro area.
Jim was an avid sports fan and a talented athlete himself, enjoying many recreational sports during adulthood. He was a member of the A-A championship-winning Brent Village softball team in the 1970s and 1980s and was an avid golfer throughout his adult life. He also enjoyed long road trips, frequently known to drive across the country for camping, fun, or to visit family members and friends.
Family and friends will remember Jim’s vitality and jolly demeanor, with his bright smile and easy laugh. His goofy side made him a favorite of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as his close friends. He never hesitated to jump into action to help family and friends in need. Even in the toughest of times, he remained positive, level-headed, and rarely complained. He will be dearly missed and remembered fondly.
Jim is survived by his children: John Bennett, Amy Bennett, Kate (Matt) Kyler, and Matt (Emily) Bennett; siblings: Mike, Larry, Peg (Thurber) and Ed; grandchildren: James, Juliette, Hannah, Hattie and Beau; long-time companion, Myra Niemeier and her daughters and families; as well as siblings in-law, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Marilyn; wife, Terri.

Benny was one of those rare people, no matter where you might be, that when he showed up, you couldn’t help but smile. A gift to all of us.
Sorry for your loss, may he rest in peace
Jim/Jimbo/Boo was a kind and gentle man to my family. He made my little girls feel special with his love. Jim loved Myra very much and was concerned for her well being all the way up until the end. The world has now gotten a little smaller now that he is gone. We love you Boo. Rest in peace good Sir.
Love,
The Jennings Family
Grew up with his son and Mr. Bennett as a coach. Beautiful people with great souls. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
