James L. Grosso

James L. Grosso

October 9, 1950- October 3, 2024

James L. Grosso, 73, of St. Charles, Illinois, passed away on October 3, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Jim was born on October 9, 1950, to James and Helen Grosso in Newark, New Jersey.

After Jim graduated from Kearny High School in Kearny, NJ he worked full time to put himself through college at Montclair State University. After completing his bachelor’s degree in business management, Jim went on to work for CorningWare in their sales department. Following his time with them, he shifted his career and began learning the business of Human Resources. Eventually Jim would transition to St. Charles with his final company Mitutoyo, the global leading manufacturing company for ultra-precise measurement solutions. His outstanding performance and unwavering dedication excelled him through the ranks until his departure from the company as the Head of Human Resources.

In 1970, Jim met Virginia and fell in love immediately. The couple was married soon after, and shared wonderful times together only to be struck by tragedy 2 years into their marriage. Virginia passed away and the brokenhearted Jim never married again. While he and Virginia did not have children, Jim never shied away from being an amazing bonus dad to his niece and nephew, Jaime and Michael Corsar. In addition to spending as much time as possible with Jaime and Michael, Jim would spend his time traveling and enjoying quality time with family and lifelong friends from St. Charles.

Jim’s greatest passion was his 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge. He loved hanging out with his car buddies and attending car shows with them. This love for muscle cars built everlasting friendships with several other car enthusiasts in the St. Charles area. Jim was known for his “dad- jokes” and quick wit. He loved to make people laugh and bring as much joy as possible to others.

Jim was preceded by his brother, Dennis Grosso and parents, James and Helen Grosso. He is survived by his sister, Michele (Gary) Corsar; nephew, Michael (Becky) Corsar and niece, Jaime (Jenean) Corsar.

I met Jim when I started dating his sister, Michele. He was a very important part of our family throughout our young marriage and then when our children came along. He always made time for them and he became very close to both of them. Jim was there for our 50th wedding anniversary in April. Although he was t feeling great he made the trip. We love and miss you! We e lost a big piece of our family.

My condolences, I have known Jim practically my whole life because of his sister Michele who I have been best buddies with since age 5. Jim was a funny, gentle man who to know him was to love him. Jim will be greatly missed. RIP 🙏

I’ll miss you my dear friend. 33 years of friendship went by far too quickly. We drove each other crazy like 2 Italians will do but we love we shared was strong! Rest in peace now that you’re finally pain free..

I worked with Jim at Mitutoyo. We had a business trip to Japan together in the fall of 2000. Jim had many friends here at Mitutoyo. My deepest sympathy to his family.
