Jim was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to John M. and Lona C. Jirousek. He received his BA in Architecture from UNL.
Jim married Josephine Ann Ruterbories on March 2, 1957, and recently celebrated their 64th anniversary. Together they raised four amazing children and doted on five wonderful grandchildren.
Over the course of their life together, they lived in Havelock, Nebraska, Omaha, Nebraska, and Dallas, Texas. They designed and built a home for the family in Omaha, NE. While in Dallas, TX, they founded Jirousek and Associates, a healthcare facility consulting firm.
Jim was an avid fan of the Huskers, the Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Cubs. He was an active member of Kiwanis where he developed many friendships.
His “dad jokes” received the expected eye rolls and groans. They were meant to make everyone smile. He loved to laugh and make others laugh.

Dear Jo and family, I miss the cheerfulness and kindness of Jim in our neighborhood. He so often would hail me during our comings and goings, and our brief chats would always brighten my days. May he Rest In Peace. I am here, Jo, if you need anything.
Dear Jirousek Family,
I am so sorry for your loss of your husband and father. My wonderful memories of spending the night at Patty’s house included Jo and Jim (really Mr. And Mrs. Jirousek)! Thank you for including me in your family. I’m sorry I’m out of town for the visitation. Love to you all, especially Patty♥️.
Jim and Jo were the best of people. He introduced me to my husband. He helped me with my career. Jim and Jo welcomed us to Omaha decades later. Our love and prayers to his family. 💔❤️
