James M. Patton

James M. Patton, of Omaha, died peacefully Saturday morning, August 9, 2025.  He is survived by two sons, John (Anna) and David (Laura) Patton; four grandchildren Kyla, Tyler (Lindsey), Jesse, and A.J.; three great-grandchildren, Cayden, Avah, and Logan; sister Barbara in den Bosch; nephew Bernard (Konni) and niece Nicole (Joe) Karlick; grandnephews and grandnieces Mitchell (Lauryn) and Tanner in den Bosch, Cy, Peter and Amelia Karlick and great-grand-niece, Ellie in den Bosch. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Dorothy F. Patton; and by his first wife, Sherry Patton.

Jim served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves for six years and was honorably discharged. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a long-time member of the Scottish Rite Temple #1 in Omaha. Jim worked as a Realtor for over 60 years and retired as CEO of the Omaha Area Board of Realtors in 2010 having converted the Multiple Listing Service information from paper to computer.

Jim was married to Nancy (Hoegemeyer Witte) Patton for 31 years.  She survives along with Jim’s stepsons, Carl (Dawn), Mark and Bryan Witte; and four step-grandchildren, Cecilia, Malcolm, Honor, and Julian.

Jim’s hobbies included rebuilding antique cars, drag racing, traveling in RVs (border to border and coast to coast) and listening to country music.

Jim lived for 89 years, 2 months and 2 days.

VISITATION:  Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel.  FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, August 14th at 1pm at the West Center Chapel.  Interment with Military Honors: Evergreen Memorial Park.

Memorials are requested to Shriners Children’s Hospital or Peace Presbyterian Church, Elkhorn, Nebraska.

    I worked with Jim at OABR – I was in the printshop. He was always trying to do the best for his staff and was very sympathetic and understanding. I enjoyed the few years I worked there and he was a big part of that!
