James Nuot Puot

April 2, 1972 – June 6, 2020

 

James Nuot Puot (48), was born on April 02, 1972, to Puok Puot Thiep and his wife Nyathor Mabith, Thiang, Fangak County Jonglei State, South Sudan, James Nuot Puot, succumbed to cancer at the comfort of medical staffs, and was preceded in death by his wife Nyalol Chuol Zuor-Jack, in the University of Nebraska hospital, Warrant Buffet Cancer Center on Saturday, June 06, 2020.

As a very young man, he began his life journey in the summer of 1992.  He traveled to Ethiopia and settled in the Dimma refugee camp in Western Ethiopia.  When he arrived, he applied for resettlement to the United States through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee (UNHCR).

While he was waiting for resettlement approval, he started going to school and graduated with a high school diploma from Dimma High School in May 1996.  James Nuot Puot, respectively met his wife in the refugee camp before he departed to the United States of America in 1998.

When he arrived in the U.S.A, he landed in Fort Worth Taxes, but he moved to Marshalltown, Iowa to attend college.  James was admitted to Marshalltown Community College, (MCC), and graduated with an Associate Degree with empathy in Computer Science Management in 2004.  James then applied and admitted to the bachelor’s degree program at Doane College, (Doane University), Lincoln Nebraska compass.  In July 2007, James and his family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to complete his education where he later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science in August 2009.

James Nuot Puot is survived by his wife Nyalol Chuol Zuor-Jack of 22 years, 8 children. Daughters Nyamach James Nuot (Fangak Matet), Nyagoah James Nuot, Nyanaath James Nuot, Holiday James Nuot, Sons, Puot James (Ter Matet), Wiech James Nuot, twin, Jigaar James Nuot and Thiep James Nuot, and many loving, nieces, nephews and extended family back home in South Sudan.  James Nuot Puot was a hard-working man, a loving father, husband, a leader, and a friend to everyone.

James Nuot Puot is highly respected community leader, he loved socialization and gatherings.  He also enjoyed helping others, he was always there to help relatives and friends on whatever else people needed him for.  James has left a very big gap behind in all spheres of life, may his soul rest in eternal peace.

A special thank you to the families and friends in our community for their loving care and support during his final days.  Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler Mortuaries & Crematory Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.

Due to the current situation of COVID-19 and governmental regulations in respect to social distancing, quick memorial service for James Nuot Puot will be held in Funeral Home hall, from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, June 2020.  James will be laid to rest at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.  The address is 2300 South 78th Street.     James was my student at Doane. He was gentle, intelligent, strong and compassionate. Peace to his beloved family.
