James P. “Pat” Thornton

James ” Pat” Thornton, age 92.

Preceded in death by mother, Edna Bridges; parents, Earl and Marge Thornton; sister, MaryAnn Formico; niece, Michele Formico. Survived by wife, Mary Lou Thornton; children, Earl (Heather) and Bryan (Amanda); grandchildren: Anja, Penelope, and Bentley; nieces and nephews: Eileen (John) Batchelder, Marty (Karen) Formico, Kathleen Forsman, and Chris (Lisa) Formico.

Pat attended Sacred Heart and Holy Name grade school. He enjoyed his high school years at Holy Name, playing in sports, particularly basketball, and their team won the Class B State Championship Pat’s senior year. Pat attended Creighton University, earning a degree in Business. He was a member of the Bluejay basketball team. After serving in the Army, he returned to Creighton to earn his law degree. He practiced law for 50 years in Omaha. Pat continued to play basketball and bridge. He married Mary Emery in 1969. For many years, friends were invited to their home for the “St. Patrick’s Day Sing-A-Long”. With their two boys, they enjoyed traveling and camping trips.

VISITATION: Tuesday. December 5th from 6pm to 7pm at West Center Chapel with a VIGIL to follow at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Wednesday, December 6th at 10:30am at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 3405 S. 118th St. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors.

    Oh Uncle Pat…..you were such a amazing man. Such good memories as a little girl. Camping, boating singing! You were an amazing role model. God rest your soul Uncle Pat.

    Uncle Pat… I remember playing board and card games with you as a child. I loved those special times together. Rest in peace and love with God. Enjoy catching up with the family. Give them our ❤️
