James W. Gepson

GEPSON, James W. Jul 30, 1935 – Nov 27, 2012 James W. Gepson served in the Navy during the Korean War and served twice in the Navy Reserves. He was an avid Husker, Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals sports fan. In later years, he was an avid golfer, woodcarver and gardener. He enjoyed playing Chess, dancing and experimental cooking. He was a voracious reader and an expert with crossword puzzles. James was also an accomplished educator. He taught American Government and Debate at Bellevue High School and ended his career at College of St. Mary. In between, he had worked with the Job Corps, Westinghouse Learning Corporation and was Training Director for both Burrough’s Corporation and the City Of Omaha. Even in death, he is still a teacher to many, for he donated his body to science to allow future healthcare professionals a chance to study. Above all, he was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many. When he is done teaching his final lessons, he will be taken to Kodiak Island in Alaska. He is survived by daughter, Paula Gepson; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lisa Gepson; grandchildren, Jessica and Corey Gepson; brothers, Peter Gepson and Don Gepson. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 5, 6pm to 9pm at the West Center Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or American Cancer Society.
