Jamie J. Kobylasz

April 14, 1976 – January 21, 2019

Jamie J Kobylasz waved his white flag while battling against pancreatic cancer on January 21, 2019; he was 42 years old. He was born on April 14, 1976 to Doug and Deb Kobylasz in Omaha NE, brother to Rob Kobylasz and Diane Proffitt. Jamie spent his early childhood in Omaha and then moved to Iowa. Jamie spent lots of time with multiple cousins and grandparents while growing up. He finished schooling in the Dallas Center/Grimes area, building an entourage of lifelong friends. In his early twenties Jamie moved back to the Omaha area, continuing to extend his compassion for family to grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

In 2003, Jamie married Melissa. Together they had four beautiful children: Kayleigh, Joseph, Norah and Dominic, who were all the loves of his life!

Jamie was a true entrepreneur of all grasses and enjoyed the greener things in life. Jamie built a trusted, reliable lawn service company with pride. Jamie was a proud advocate and willing cancer participant in the cannabis movement. Other of areas of green he mastered were pool and golfing.

He loved custom cars/trucks along with custom competition audio systems, for which he garnered many awards. Jamie took great pride in his ‘77 Grand Prix, ‘92 Sonoma and Yahama R1. He had a passion for cooking and smoking any food that fits inside the smoker. Jamie adored fishing trips with his nephew in Colorado. Jamie is a well-known online XBOX COD player with a huge group of online friends, proof that his personality was first rate. Jamie had a big heart and was there for everyone.

Jamie was preceded in death by his godson, Jordan Armstrong; cousin, Mike Beuchler; father-in-law, David Watkins; family dog, Peanut; and multiple grandparents and great-grandparents.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 28th from 2pm to 4pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE at 4pm.  A reception will follow in the West Center Chapel Community Room. Memorials are suggested to The Kobylasz Children’s Educational Fund.

Deb, Doug, Melissa and family… it was a long journey, one that Jamie fought with everything that he had. I know he is looking down from the Heavens about wishing he could be with you and take the pain away. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Wouldn’t he be so proud to know Nebraska will have a bill for consideration in 2020 for medical cannabis?! What a day that will be! Fingers crossed!
