Janet J. Landgraf
October 30, 1919 – December 1, 2018
Janet Julia Landgraf was born on October 30, 1919, the daughter of Herman and Julia Christiansen Schinkel. She died at the age of 99 on December 1, 2018 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Janet was born near Creighton, Nebraska, where she lived until the age of ten when she moved with her parents, in 1930, to a farm near Arion, Iowa and later to a farm near Denison, Iowa.
Janet was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1932 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Her early education began in a rural school near her home before she attended Zion Lutheran School in Denison. After graduating from Denison Community High School (class of 1936) with a normal training degree, she then taught for four years in the rural schools.
On May 15, 1943 Janet was united in marriage to Francis Landgraf at Zion Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. During World War II Janet worked at the Glenn L. Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha. She later worked at Watson Brothers Transportation Company and A. C. Nelsen Trailer Sales. Janet was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Omaha.
Janet was preceded in death by husband, Francis Landgraf; parents, Herman and Julia Schinkel; sister, Loretta Weiss Borgstahl; brother, Marvin Schinkel. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
