Janice “Jan” Dahlk
March 3, 1950 – May 26, 2022
Janice “Jan” Dahlk was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Jan passed away suddenly on May 26, 2022 after a brief illness. Jan adored reading, writing, art, crafting, animals, sports, and traveling. She was a master of the written word, and delighted her friends and family with written accounts of her adventures across the world, whether they included kayaking in the Pacific Northwest, or touring museums in Holland. “Granjan” was a loving grandmother who enjoyed making her granddaughters, Emerson and Mackenzie, laugh with her stories and skillful narration of their imaginary adventures.
Jan was born to Alvina “Nina” Schneider and Richard Larson on March 3, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN. Jan completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin in English and Art History in 1973. After her marriage to Thomas Dahlk in December 1973, she moved to Omaha in August 1974. She had two children: Lesley (Ben) Turner, and Thomas L. (“Tommy”) Dahlk. Jan was an involved member of her church where she participated in choir and Steven’s Ministry. Jan devoted herself to her children and spent many years volunteering her time to the various pursuits and interests of Lesley and Tommy.
Jan is survived by her children, grandchildren, sister Karen (Richard) Hug, countless friends, and beloved dog Sophie.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Wednesday, June 22nd, 11AM at Morningstar Lutheran Church (331 S. 85th Street).
In lieu of flowers, donations to Morningstar Lutheran Church or the Nebraska Humane Society are welcome on her behalf.
