Although we will miss your love and humor, we smile knowing you have gone ahead to start the party in heaven and are jamming to your rock and roll oldies.

Jan passed away March 30, 2022. She was born on January 24, 1947, in Delaware, Ohio, the oldest child of Charles and Margaret (Stock) Overmiller. She attended Springhill College of the Society of Jesus, Mobile, Alabama, graduating in 1969. Her first job was as a social worker in New Orleans.

In 1972, Jan moved to Omaha, Nebraska and became a social worker for Douglas County.  She moved to a job as Child Support Administrator for the State of Nebraska, a position she held until her retirement in 2005. She was well suited for a career that looked out for those who needed help.

Jan brought wisdom, fun and irreverence into the world. She was always up for a travel adventure, loved to read and to host parties (as long as guests left by the time CSI started). Her spaghetti and garlic bread were legendary.

Jan had a gift of connecting with children. She loved, spoiled and helped raise Annie, Abbie, Regan, Cobe and Cai. She will forever be a part of their hearts and minds.

Jan is survived by countless friends as well as her brothers Chuck, Mark (Carolyn), and Craig, nephews Jason and Kade and niece Carly, great nephew Kaleo and great niece Ryleigh.

Because we knew you, we have been changed for good.

I worked with Jan in Child Support for years. She was a force to be recon with. We always joked about how we could remember the day you sit at your desk and smoke and how we could eat countless donuts over our keyboards and make a mess. She loved to share her disposable bibs they bought her as a joke with me. She was always so pleasant and fun and full of energy and nobody would ever have strong calf muscles like she did. She always said hi kid how are you. My heart is saddened by this loss but I know she is giving lots of spirit and fun to those in Heaven. My prayers are with the family

Jan will be missed by many. She was always a joy to be around. I spent many fun times at the Overmiller house in my younger days. Much love and prayers sent to Chuck, Mark, Craig, nieces and nephews that all loved her❤️🙏🏻

I love Jan. I have sincerely missed her presence since she retired, and will continue to do so. There is a shortage of beautiful spirits such as Jan and that’s our loss. I love you Jan.

I got to know Jan when I came to work in the Nebraska Child Support Paternity Project. She was so supportive and patient with me as I learned the system. She could light up a room with her smile and friendship. I was blessed to have known her and will cherish the memories. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed . My deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Jan was my supervisor for many years. She taught me so much. I especially remember that we do high quality work which she referred to as “cloth napkin”. She showed me how to think out of the box she solving problems. She taught me to ace adversity with a sense of humor. ShewS a dear friend who I will miss. She
