Jannie Richosa Tiny Berry
March 14, 1995 – June 05, 2024
Jannie was born on March 14, 1995, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Nickole S. Berry (Brown)/Dad, Jerome J. Marshall; Father: Jimmy Johnson.
She was baptized and a member of St. Mark Baptist Church of Omaha, Nebraska. In her younger years, she took pride in caring for the Elderly with her Great-Grandmother, Robbie Lewis, and continued on throughout her adult years caring for her Grandmother-in-law, Betty Cole.
Beginning at a young age she was a member of the Los Diablos Drill Team and Dance Squad, and was very athletic in the years to follow. She attended Burke and Bryan High Schools and graduated in 2012. She was a valuable asset to the School Band and took great pride in playing the violin. She even bought a violin for her little brother, encouraging her siblings and children to learn as well. She was passionate in playing volleyball and creating pottery throughout High School. She went straight into college, attending Metro Community College between the years of 2012-2013.
She had a heart as pure as gold. She devoted her life serving as a Teacher in Early Childhood Development, receiving multiple certifications within this Profession. Amongst all her other accomplishments, Jannie believed in putting her Family first. She was dedicated to setting aside time, specifically to do special things with her fiancé and children, at least twice a week; such as movie nights, playing board games, family outings ( zoo, park, out to eat) and cooking at home all together (dinner/desserts). Jannie really loved going to her children’s school for family night but not as much as dad. He wanted to play bingo. She also shared her love with her animals, Queen, Simba and her Baby Draco.
She also made time for herself. She enjoyed shopping online, watching Black Entertainment Movies/Series, playing the Sims game on the computer, Arts and Crafts, and indulging in Beauty, by doing her fingernails and eyelashes. She also set aside time for best friends and godchildren on Sunday, grilling and watching shows. Above all, she made sure she kept in contact with her Mother on a daily basis, calling her a thousand times a day, no matter the time of day or the situation.
Jannie and Jay-me Johnson have known each other since 9th grade and continued to be friends throughout high school. Although, they argued and fought amongst each other they became united as one. They were blessed with two children (The Johnson Brothers).
Jannie was preceded in death by her Great- Grandmothers, Rose Rigby, Essie Brown and Robbie Lewis; Great-Grandfathers, Willie Brown Sr., JT Taylor and Jimmy Lindsay; Grandmothers, Jannie Mae Brown; Godmother, Tosha Mapp; and Birthday twin, Brenda Cain; Godfather, Jamhal Mapp Sr.
Jannie was a very special child. She was named after her grandmother, Jannie Thorton; a fifth generation name.
