Jeffrey D. Hovey

Jeffrey D. Hovey

July 18, 1961 – December 9, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeffrey Dwaine Hovey, a man whose kindness, generosity, and gift for sharing wisdom left a mark on everyone he met.  Jeff passed away on December 9, 2024, surrounded by the love of family.

Born in San Bernardino, CA and growing up in Spain, the Philippines and various cities around the United States gave Jeff the extraordinary ability to connect with people through words – whether through wise counsel or his storytelling.  He could brighten days with thoughtful advice, always knowing how to help others.  Whether offering encouragement, sharing a laugh, or simply listening, his words were a source of comfort and inspiration to many.

Jeff found joy in travelling and more recently nature photography.  As a natural leader, Jeff became the President of VICA in college and had the privilege of meeting with President Ronald Reagan.  Throughout his career, Jeff excelled in sales, earning the respect of colleagues and clients through his dedication and remarkable ability to build lasting relationships.  He lived by the belief, “be kind and do the right thing”, and he demonstrated that daily.

Preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Joan Hovey, brother-in-law Gary Dyke.  He is survived by wife Julie; children, Alexandria Liebig (Travis) and Michael Pitt; grandchildren Connor, Isabelle, and Bear; sister Cindy Dyke; brother Roland Hovey and wife Danielle; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Though we mourn his loss, we take comfort in knowing that Jeff’s words of wisdom and acts of kindness will continue to stay in our hearts.

Memorial Service: Monday, December 16th, 2pm at West Center Chapel with visitation starting at 1pm.

I have the privilege of working with Jeff at OPS. He had a great way of finding out what we needed while at the same time not being pushy. I am so sorry for your loss.

Jeff will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He and worked together for several years and he is one of the few past collegues I have remained friends with. He and I talked almost weekely, had been on multiple “vegas trips” and other adventures in the past years. My wife Maira and I enjoyed the times he would stop in for a visit, lunch, dinner or what ever when he was passing by to go to Osage and Winfield. Even if were just for an hour or two. Many good times, conversations and memories. Words can not express…..Our hearts go out to Julie an the family,
