Retired history professor and author. Preceded in death by parents, Wilbur and Mildred Smith; brother-in-law, Vince Mangiameli. Survived by loving wife of 49 years, Carol; son, Scott Smith (Janet) of St. Charles, MO; daughter, Shelby Foral (Rob) of Omaha; grandchildren: Amanda Schulte-Smith, R.J., Haley, and Harrison Foral of Omaha; sister, Janice Mangiameli; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mike and Jill Owens of Lincoln, NE; nephews: John and Joe Mangiameli, and Jason Owens; niece, Ashlee Waring.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 5th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MEMORIAL MASS Saturday, Jan. 6th at 10:30am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 20500 W. Maple Road. Private Interment, Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Creighton Prep High School, Josie Harper Hospice House, or Buffett Cancer Center.

My prayers are with him and his family. I will miss him at Prep functions.
I’m heart broken that Jeff has passed. We had some great times in high school. Our sincere condolences to the family.
Shelby, Scott and Mrs. Smith I’m so sorry for your loss I remember your dad as being happy and smiling all the time. Please know my prayers are with your family during this difficult time.
