Jeffrey Lynn Stoehr

May 17, 1948 – October 27, 2022

On October 27, 2022, Jeffrey Lynn Stoehr passed away at the age of 74. Jeff was born on May 17, 1948, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Paul and Lyda (Heckman) Stoehr. He grew up in Lincoln and graduated from University High School in 1966. Jeff attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (1970) and the University of Nebraska College of Law (1973). Jeff practiced law in the Omaha area for nearly 50 years and focused his practice primarily on family law and estate planning. He also had a satellite office in Elgin, Nebraska, which he traveled to on a weekly basis to meet with clients.

Jeff was a jack of all trades and master of many. He had a knack for building things, including the family cabin, five garages, and several decks. Jeff never sat still and was always puttering on projects big and small. He had the right tool for every job and was quick to lend a hand to others. He was known as a yard czar, his lawn a lush carpet of green, mowed in straight lines. And he had quite the passion for removing snow even before it hit the pavement. Christmas and the 4th of July were Jeff’s favorite holidays. In December, he would cover his home in blue lights, and in July, he would fill the sky with bursts of all shapes and colors. He enjoyed Husker sports, good appetizers, great meals, and ice-cold fruity drinks.

As President of the Jan Eric Pusch Charitable Trust Foundation for several years, Jeff has overseen donations to many organizations and individuals. With his guidance, the Foundation funded complete music education materials and teacher training for approximately twenty rural Nebraska schools. Non-profit organizations such as The Sienna Francis House, Heart Ministry, Latino Police Officers Association, and Fremont’s Masonic Home for Children benefited from monetary gifts, holiday meals, and Christmas presents from the Foundation. At the time of Jeff’s death, he was in the process of gifting a large sum to Sienna Francis House, which his friends and colleagues will carry out.

Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Lyda; father, Paul. He is survived by his wife, Judy; three children: Heather (Lee) Johnson, Tracy (Jamie) Warren, and Trevor (Melissa) Stoehr; grandchildren: Kaleb, Greyson, Emerson, Tate, and Conley Johnson, Henry, and Sullivan Warren, and Trenton, Meadow, and Joslyn Stoehr; brother, P. Michael (Susan) Stoehr; sister, Tami (Norm) Stoehr-Kreps; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Judy and family, where I only met Jeff four short years ago when we moved into the neighborhood, his Opening Statement to me was as I was hanging tools in our garage “In 30 years I have never seen a tool in that garage! Jeff and you are in our prayers.

    To Jeff’s family,
My husband and I were clients of Jeff’s for several years. We wanted to let you know that we considered him one of the best of the best. Caring, thoughtful and always looking out for his clients. He had a big heart and it showed thru his work. Prayers for peace and hope for all of you.
