Jennifer Leigh Riedel

Jennifer Leigh Riedel

Oct 29, 1974 – Nov 5, 2017

Jennifer Leigh Riedel, 43, of Peoria, Illinois died on Sunday, November 5, 2017 surrounded by her family.  She was born on October 29, 1974, the daughter of Thomas and Patricia Klitzke.  She graduated from Westside High School with the class of 1993 and later from Illinois State University. On July 6, 1996, she married Robert Riedel, Jr. in a beautiful dress that she made with her grandmother. She found a fulfilling and successful career in both the medical and business worlds.

Jeni enjoyed sewing, cooking, hiking, traveling, biking, movies, and shopping.  She delighted in spending time with friends and family, especially her husband, Rob. Jeni was a selfless, caring, and giving person who lived her life for others and found joy in the smallest things.  Even through her illness, she did not want anyone to put her needs ahead of their own.  A memorable experience was the 4 years that she and Rob lived in England and were fortunate enough to visit many other countries.  Jeni had an uncanny ability to keep everything she had looking brand new with a keen eye for detail.  Her cat, Isaac, was part of her family for 15 years and brought her a lot of joy.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 21 years, Rob Riedel of Peoria IL; her parents, Thomas and Patricia Klitzke of Omaha, NE; parents-in-law, Bob and Evelyn Riedel of Papillion, NE; sisters: Teri Rosso (Jason), Veronica Dowda (Thomas), Beth Strominger (Joel), Becki Adams (Andrew), and Karin Klitzke; brother-in-law, Craig Riedel (Melissa); and multiple nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Kimberly Riedel.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held on Monday, November 13th at 10am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 6905 Blondo in Omaha, with Father Michael Eckley as celebrant.  Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park following the Mass. VISITATION with casual attire will begin on Sunday, November 12th at 1 pm at the West Center Chapel, 7805 W. Center Rd., with the family present from 5pm to 7pm to greet friends and relatives.  VIGIL SERVICE will follow at 7pm at the mortuary.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a cause that is special to Jeni and will be determined later.  To view a video tribute celebrating Jeni’s life, please click on this link or copy and paste it into your browser:

Cancer does not care who it takes or who it hurts. It comes into your life and starts to break the threads that hold you and you are left to see pieces of yourself slip away and dreams fade. BUT, the end is when the most amazing thing happens, cancer loses its strength and grace appears. We need to see it, accept it, and go with it. Grace and love win, not cancer.

It is my hope that the family receives healing for their grieving hearts. Comfort is given through the soothing and comforting words at Isaiah 41:10 and Daniel 12:2 .
