Jeremy Knott was born in Omaha, Nebraska where he spent much of his childhood. He was incredibly close to both his Mother and Father and spent his childhood making beautiful memories with them and his extended family.

During his youth and college years he was actively involved in sports, particularly football, which he attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas to play his Freshmen year. Following this year, Jeremy returned to Omaha to pursue a Bachelor’s in Construction Engineering & Technology through the Peter Kiewit Institute.  He was just shy of earning that degree prior to starting and finishing his Associate’s Degree in Fire Science Technology. It was during this time that he was reunited with his high school classmate and future wife, Ashley, whom he began dating at the young age of 20.

Shortly thereafter, at the age of 23, Jeremy was hired on to the Omaha Fire Department where he has served ever since. While on the Department he went on to earn his Paramedic License and was ultimately promoted to Fire Apparatus Engineer. For the past 6 years he had worked at Station 21, forming unshakable bonds and friendships with his brothers at his station. Jeremy devoted his heart and life to his profession, and although especially humble, he was incredibly talented and well-respected by his fellow OFD members for both his work ethic and heart for the job.

In 2009, Ashley and Jeremy bought a home they absolutely loved in Morton Meadows.  The two of them spent many of their dating years renovating their home and traveling.  In 2014, after ten years of dating, he married Ashley on the beach in Cancun, Mexico.  He showed his incredible and unwavering love and devotion to her in word and deed, with every single action he took.

Two years later, in 2016, Ashley and Jeremy welcomed their son, Jude Patrick, into the world. Jeremy loved this little boy with absolutely everything he had. He spent every single one of his days off from work finding ways to teach him everything he knew, helping him explore as much as he could in this world, and molding him into a kind, humble, intelligent and curious young boy. Jude would easily call Jeremy his best friend. Now 3, Jude wants nothing more than to be a Firefighter just like his Daddy.

Throughout his life, Jeremy embodied what it meant to love so intensely without any expectation. He was a selfless man who always did the right thing, offered a helping hand at every opportunity given, and went out of his way to better the lives of others on a daily basis. If anyone needed him, he was there, no questions asked, and it didn’t matter what was asked of him— no complaint was ever heard.

We live right across the street (2206), and were shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Jeremy’s sudden passing. He was a really great guy, and it was beautiful to watch him and Jude playing in the yard, teaching him everything. Please let us know if there is any way we can help you during this time.
