Jeremy Wayne Cook, a loving husband, devoted father, terrible joke teller, and loyal friend, passed away on May 25, 2023, in Omaha, Nebraska, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy. Born on July 20, 1978, Jeremy led a life filled with passion, adventure, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.

Jeremy is survived by his beloved wife, Leigh (Anderson) Cook, whom he married in 2016. She was his constant companion and source of strength throughout their journey together. His two adored sons, Benjamin (age 6) and Jack (age 4), brought immense joy to his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Jeremy’s steadfast love and commitment to his family served as an inspiration to all who knew him.

Born on the island of Oahu in Hawaii to Ruth and Wayne, Jeremy had the opportunity to experience life in various locations while growing up in a military family. These diverse environments shaped his worldview and instilled in him a sense of adaptability and open-mindedness. He also leaves behind his sister, Christa, and brother, Brandon, with whom he shared many memories and experiences that shaped his journey. He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Jeremy had a zest for life that was reflected in his many passions and interests. He found solace and adventure in the great outdoors, enjoying activities such as hiking, riding mountain and road bikes, camping, and gardening. Jeremy’s artistic spirit shone through his love of cooking and photography, capturing the beauty of the world around him with a keen eye and a creative touch. Additionally, he was an avid fan of F1 racing, appreciating the skill, speed, and precision of the sport.

Professionally, Jeremy’s impact was significant. He dedicated his career to the field of economics and engineering, working as a Principal Economist at HDR since March 2006. His expertise and insights were highly valued, and he made substantial contributions to the organization. Jeremy’s bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of New Mexico served as a solid foundation for his accomplishments, and he was widely respected by his colleagues.

While Jeremy’s untimely departure has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, his memory will forever be cherished. His kind heart, caring nature, and resolute love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Jeremy’s legacy serves as a reminder to live life to the fullest, treasure our loved ones, embrace adventure, and appreciate the beauty of the world around us.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 31st at First Christian Church, 6630 Dodge St. in Omaha, where family, friends, and colleagues will come together to celebrate Jeremy’s life and bid him farewell. A wake will be held the evening prior on Tuesday, May 30th at Heafey-Hoffman- Dworak- &- Cutler Funeral Home (7805 West Center Road) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Jeremy will be remembered as a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many. The memories of Jeremy will continue to inspire and guide us on the adventure of life. May his soul find eternal peace.

    So sorry for your loss and my coffee buddy. I have no words. I loved him like a son and looked forward to our meet ups. I miss him greatly already . love to Leigh and the boys, we will be in touch as they grow.

    I worked with Jeremy at HDR for some time. He was good at what he did and brought a lot to the sustainability practice. So sorry for the loss of him.

    I was greatly saddened when I heard of Jeremy’s passing away. He was a great colleague. I always felt he was genuine in his speech and actions. People felt at ease with him. He loved his family and was so proud of his boys. When we were at team meetings or conferences, he was always happy to share pictures of his children. I shall miss him. To Jeremy’s family, I send my sincerest condolences for your loss.
