Jerome F. “Jerry” Sherman
February 16, 1940 – April 14, 2019
Jerry was born in Lincoln, NE, the son of Andrew and Elizabeth Sherman, and brother to 3 sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Jeanette (Ward) Sherman; children Mary (Bret), Peter (Kim), Anne (Pat) and John (Laura); sisters Sue Mooney and Rita Sherman; grandchildren, Ty, Kelly, Kate, Piper, Jack, Jacob, Kyle, Grant and Will.
Jerry spent over 40 years teaching both undergraduate and graduate finance at Creighton University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Sherman was on the Board of Directors and Chairman of the audit committee for New York Mortgage Trust. He has worked as a financial consultant to various corporations as an economic and financial expert in litigation matters. Jerry has served on a variety of corporate and civic boards in Omaha, including President of the Regency Board for many years. Dr. Sherman attended Regis College on a Basketball scholarship to earn his B.S. in Mathematics, received a M.A. in Finance and Economics from Memphis State University and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Mississippi.
Sports was always one of Jerry’s passions, he grew up playing various sports in Hastings, including earning the Nebraska All-State Class C Basketball title in 1957 and 1958 and leading St. Cecilia’s to their first State Basketball title in 1958. He went on to become Captain and leading scorer in Basketball and playing Varsity Tennis at Regis. He continued to play competitive tennis and bridge throughout his life, he also loved to travel and spend time with his family.
The Family will receive friends on Monday, April 22nd from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by SERVICES at 7pm. Memorials are suggested to Creighton University School of Business.

Dr Sherman was an outstanding professor and I thoughly enjoyed his undergraduate classes at Creighton. May you “Rest in Peace” for a life well lived.
