Jerome H. “Jerry” Streight
October 25, 1930 – March 17, 2023
Jerome H. “Jerry” Streight, age 92, of Omaha, NE passed away on Friday, March 17th, 2023, with his wife Dee of 70 years and family by his side.
He was born to Bernice and Jason Streight on October 25, 1930, in South Bend, NE. He attended night school while working and graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Engineering. Jerry met Delores while working in Omaha, and they were married in 1953.
Hunting in the Sandhills and fields in Nebraska with his young sons was a common pastime early on as well as canoeing and hiking with the entire family on most weekends. Jerry enjoyed many long car trips out West to visit family and friends after retirement. Fishing trips in Minnesota and Canada were always an adventure in search of “Big Wally”; he especially loved fishing for walleye. Jerry instilled a love of the outdoors to his family. He was also a watercolor artist and many of his works grace his home and those of his children. He had the heart of a poet, truly.
He is survived by his wife Dee and their children: Dan Streight and partner Julie of Carson City, NV; Tina (Joel) Butler of Eugene, OR; LouAnn (Greg) Schentag of Parker, CO; Chris (Laurie Hutchinson) of Portland, OR; and grandchildren Sylvie, Laura (Tim), Mike and Nick. He is also survived by a large extended family, dear friends and caring neighbors. He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Marie, and sister, Carol Joy.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: Thursday, March 23rd from 1pm to 4pm at the West Center Chapel. Family Interment, Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Rowe Sanctuary, rowe.audubon.org, or Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.

I’m deeply saddened upon hearing the loss of Jerry. I first met this kind gentleman while working at Northern Natural Gas Co. We interfaced several years during the construction of new company buildings. I being Telecommunications and he engineering. I enjoyed all his outdoor knowledge from Labradors to Walleye fishing., and wonderful humor associated. A true one of a kind… love of family, friendships and life itself. My heartfelt sympathies to the family.
