Jerrene M. Langel

Jerrene M. Langel

March 19, 1962 – February 23, 2025

Jerrene Marie Langel, 62, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on February 23, 2025.  She was born in Omaha on March 19, 1962, to Vern and Delores (Broich) Langel.

Jerrene graduated from Millard South High School in 1980.  She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she met and married Chris Koenig.  Jerrene then pursued her passion for hairstyling at Capital Hair School, graduating in 1982.  Jerrene and Chris together had two children: Angela (Jeff) Hamilton and Ryan (Michaela) Koenig.

After several years working as a hairstylist, Jerrene focused on being a homemaker, a role she embraced for nearly 20 years.  She later returned to the workforce as a department manager for Hobby Lobby, where she worked until February 2023.

Jerrene enjoyed ceramics and cooking.  However, she mostly enjoyed gathering with her parents and sister to play cards nearly every week.  A proud grandmother, she cherished attending her grandchildren’s activities before her health began to decline.

Her six grandchildren: Carson, Hunter, Grayson, Isabella Hamilton, and Lane and Miles Koenig were a constant source of joy.

Jerrene is survived by her daughter, Angela (Jeff) Hamilton and son, Ryan (Michaela) Koenig; six grandchildren; her parents, Vern and Delores Langel; her sister, Barb Langel, her brothers, Kevin (Elaine) Langel and Brian (Gina) Langel; four nieces, and two nephews; along with many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

Jerrene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

I am sorry to hear about Jerrene. I worked with her at Hobby Lobby, and considered her a friend. She was too young to be taken from her family, but we can take comfort in knowing that she’s in the arms of Jesus, our Savior. May you have many good memories of her in years to come.
