Jerry R. Mann
September 4, 1949 – July 5, 2020
Jerry Ray Mann, 70 years old, of Bennington, NE, passed away quietly in his sleep on July 5th, 2020. He was born to Lenora and Donald Mann, on September 4th, 1949 in Carbondale, Illinois. Jerry graduated from Carbondale High School and received a football scholarship from Illinois State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Traffic Safety and an Associate Degree in Police Science.
He married the love of his life, Evelyn, in 1977, who survives him. Jerry is also survived by his daughter, Nancy (husband J.D.); sons: Eric, Donnie (wife Amber) and David; as well as grandchildren: Jacob, Ben, Laura, Kellen, Deven, Max, Auggie, Desiree (Justin), Lacey (Ryan), and Chelsea (Jason); great-grandson, Nate; and brother, Tom Mann (Bette).
Jerry was known for his love of fishing, genealogy and his 45 years as a public servant. He served 7 years as a police officer in Normal, Illinois, 28 years as a police officer in Council Bluffs, Iowa and finally 10 years as a corrections officer for the State of Iowa after retiring from the police department.
VISITATION following CDC guidelines: Friday, July 10th from 12:00 Noon to 1pm, at the West Center Chapel followed by MEMORIAL SERVICE: at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

So sorry to hear of his passing. I knew Jerry from his time as a CB Police officer. He was always pleasant to talk with and always so personable and professional. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

We are so sorry to hear of his passing. Jerry was a friend and a co worker. While we worked together on the Police Department he was the go to guy. If you wanted a job done and done right you would put Jerry in charge because he would do it. He will be missed, as I know he touched several lives in the positive.

I am so very sorry. I loved coaching Jerry. He was such a hard worker and so strong! All of us at Anytime Fitness in Bennington will miss him dearly! He was so loved by all of us!
Jerry wad a good friend and great co-worker. I learned a great deal from Jerry. Jerry will truly be missed.
