Jesse Craton Edwards

EDWARDS, Jesse Craton, Jan 8, 1928 – May 10, 2011. Jesse passed peacefully in the presence of loved ones in Surprise, Arizona. He was surrounded by family through his courageous six-month battle with cancer. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sharon Lynn Edwards; 5 children: Bonnie and Greg Shearer, Jesse and Naomi Edwards, Patty and Tim Wessling, Joyce and Jason Beaty, and Jennifer and James Valentine. Jesse’s legacy includes 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson, along with a host of other loving family and friends. Jesse had a distinguished 23-year military career, working as a health care provider and in medical administration. He retired from the University of Nebraska Medical Center after 41 years as a national pioneering leader of Physician Assistant Programs. He will be memorialized in perpetuity as the US Air Force designates the “Jesse C. Edwards Company Grade Physician Assistant of the Year” award. Jesse’s greatest achievement was being a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend. He loved and mentored his children in their endeavors and is their role model. The family will receive friends Sunday, 4pm-6pm at the West Center Chapel with a Service of Remembrance at 6pm. SERVICES Monday, 10am, West Center Chapel. Interment, Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military rites by Offutt AFB Honor Guard. Memorials ae suggested to the Veterans Caucus of AAPA.
