James R. (Jimmy) King, 91, of Mondamin, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Westmont Care Center in Logan Iowa. He was born to Dean J. and Bernice (Roden) King December 27, 1922, in Mondamin. He was baptized into Christ at the Onawa Christian Church in 1987. Jimmy graduated from Mondamin High School in 1941. He farmed with his father until Deans death in 1987. He continued to live on the farm until he moved into Mondamin in December 2009. Jimmy enjoyed traveling and had traveled to all lower 48 states twice in two years. He especially enjoyed visiting the National Parks. Yosemite was a favorite. He also enjoyed taking home movies, reading, and visiting with friends and family. Jimmys generosity to the West Harrison Schools, the Mondamin Community, and Harrison County is a memorial to his love and concern for others. Among his honors were Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the Harrison County Development Corporation and the West Harrison CSD and the surrounding communities. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousin Carolyn. Survivors include his cousins and many friends. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
