Joan Aloysius (Wolski) McLean

McLean, Joan Aloysius (Wolski) Jun 18, 1930 – Nov 10, 2012 Born in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of Joseph A. and Frances (Mars) Wolski; passed away from heart and kidney disease. Joan is survived by husband, Earl McLean and their four children and grandchild. Her survivors include Christopher McLean and daughter Chloe of Washington, DC; Jill Odegaard and husband Davin of Minneapolis, MN; Thomas McLean of Dunedin, New Zealand; Beth Winkler and husband Anthony of Ypsilanti, MI; and her brother Eugene and wife Pat Wolski of Rockford, IL. Joan is predeceased by her brothers Ronald and Edward. Joan was owner and head pharmacist of The Prescription Center at 42nd Street and Grover Street in Omaha from 1985-2000. A 1952 graduate of the University of Illinois Chicago College of Pharmacy, she was one of only a handful of women in her graduating class. Joan married Earl in 1954 and worked as a pharmacist throughout her life, holding licenses to practice pharmacy in four states. Earl worked as an engineer and executive at Western Electric. A breast cancer survivor, Joan was an active member of Omaha’s Bosom Buddies and was a member and volunteer at St. Wenceslaus Parish. Joan especially enjoyed helping out on Pantry Sundays. VISITATION begins Friday, November 16 at 2pm at the West Center Chapel, with family receiving friends from 5pm to 7pm and VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Saturday, November 17 at 10:30am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 15353 Pacific Street. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 2101 Leavenworth St., Omaha, 68102.
