Joan Carol Van Putten

Joan Carol Van Putten passed away at the age of 79 on July 24, 2019 in Omaha, NE. Joan and Ken were married on November 8, 1958 and celebrated 60 years of marriage. Joan was born in Sioux Center, IA. She was the second of five daughters born to Benjamin and Gertie Schneider. Joan graduated from Montevideo High School in 1957. She and Ken raised three sons while living in Montevideo, MN, Sioux Falls, SD, and Owatonna, MN. Ken and Joan also lived in Lake Nokomis and Minnetonka, MN until they moved to Castle Rock, CO in 2003 and to Omaha, NE in 2017. Joan’s working career included retail, insurance, and property management.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents. Survived by her husband Ken of Omaha, NE; sisters Mary (Howard) Van Binsbergen of Owatonna, MN; Beth (Arlin) Sneller of Hazel Run, MN; Ruth (Rick) Anschuetz of Fort Atkinson, WI; Judy (Mike) Degernes of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by three sons Jeff (Amy) Van Putten of Omaha, NE; Rick (Sis) Van Putten of Mesa, AZ; and Tim (Amy) Van Putten of Elizabeth, CO. She is also survived by grandchildren Erin (Joe) Valasek, Kristen (Mike Nellis) Van Putten, Sarah (Jason Spurgin) Van Putten, Katy Van Putten, Lena Young, Alison (Michael) Ridge, Alla (Shahed) Chowdhury, Hayden Van Putten and Reese Van Putten and great grandchildren Parker, Amilya, Ivan, Charlotte, Hudson, and Teddy. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the West Center Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Ken and family, So sorry to hear of Joan’s passing. So many good times with the Gospel Heirs Quartet came back to me, especially those times when we traveled together with our spouses to do out of town gigs. Both Joan and Irv were our ‘backup hummers.’ Ha! Loved it! Maybe that’s what’s happening in heaven right now?! Peace and God’s Blessings surround all of you.
