Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Freda Fitzsimmons; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Lee Fitzsimmons; sister, Betty Fitzsimmons; and son, David Grieb.
Survived by husband, Fred D. Grieb; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Dr. Jeff Nielsen; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Lanae Grieb; grandson and spouse, Eric and Lisa Nielsen; granddaughter and spouse, Rebecca and Dr. Brent Wakefield; grandson, Ross Grieb; granddaughter, Amy Grieb; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Warner.
Private family funeral service at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Enjoyed our time with Joan, smart, charming and gracious lady. Always was fun to be around. She will be missed.
I am so sorry to hear of Joan’s passing. I worked with Joan at UNMC in the OR. Great nurse and great human being. I was part of the lunch group of retired people from the Med Center, so I did see her at lunch and she always looked great and was fun to be with. She will be missed.

My condolences to Fred and all the family. I worked with Joan at the Med Center. She was a wonderful person and a very dear friend. We had many adventures after we retired, from Arbor Lodge in Nebr. City to Lauritzen Gardens to Women of the ELCA activities. I will miss her so much
