Joan Frances Cuda
September 27, 1942 – June 2, 2023
Joan Frances McIlheran was born Sept 27, 1942, in Shenandoah Iowa into a family of 6 (Alfred, Francis, Mary, Joan, Mike, and John). She married the love of her life, Ed Cuda on January 25th, 1964. Ed came from a family of 4 (Max, Marie, Ed, and Kathy (Kitten)).
Joan’s life calling was taking care of others and she pursued a career as a Registered Nurse working at Bergan Mercy Hospital, Lakeside Hospital in Omaha and also continued to practice nursing in Texas.
She is survived by son Kevin, wife Coleen and daughters Emma (husband Fred Koepp) and Sarah. Daughter Kimberly Parks, son Camden and daughter Adrianna. Son Mark, wife Jennifer, and daughter Finley.
She had a great sense of adventure and loved to be engaged in activities such as golf, bowling, tennis, and traveling.
Her children would like you to remember their mother as a fighter of uterine cancer for 7 years. She was told by doctors that only 20% of women survive to 5 years. She never once complained, asked for help, or wanted to be a burden to anyone. She was a caregiver first and foremost and she loved her family fiercely and cared for anyone that crossed her path.
VISITATION: Tuesday, June 6th starting at 5pm, with 7pm VIGIL SERVICE and Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard Presentation, all at the West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Wednesday, June 7th at 11am at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific St. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy. We treasure that we were able to meet and have dinner with Joan last December. May your grief evolve into peace and warm memories.
I had the pleasure of working with Joan at Bergan Mercy in the ED. She was an outstanding nurse and a great mentor. She truly was born to be a nurse and caring for others in their time of need was her greatest gift. She will be missed.
So Sorry for the loss of your dear mother! Your parents were the best! And also the best next door neighbors! Love You All & Take Care, Doug & Mary
