VISITATION: Monday, August 21st from 6pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Tuesday, August 22nd at 10am at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 9602 “Q” St. Interment, Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Gerald Catholic Church.

JoAnn Elizabeth Zimmerman (Sawyer), age 91, of Omaha, NE passed away on August 16, 2023.
JoAnn was born on October 30, 1931, to Raymond and Mildred Swanson in Lindsay, NE. JoAnn spent her younger years in St. Edward, NE where she attended St. Edward High School and graduated in 1949. In high school, JoAnn was active in the Majorettes and many other clubs. JoAnn married her high school sweetheart, Don Zimmerman on June 23, 1951, in Columbus, NE. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Omaha, NE.
On October 19, 1954, JoAnn and Don welcomed their first child, Kent Joseph. Their second child, Janell Marie was still born on August 31, 1960, and on July 24, 1962, their third child Daniel James was born.
JoAnn loved her family along with traveling, sewing, camping, cooking, baking, shopping and was an active volunteer at St. Geralds.
JoAnn’s husband Don passed away on March 17, 1991, at the age of 59. JoAnn met Ivan “Buz” Sawyer and remarried on July 15, 1994. Ivan passed away on December 30, 2020.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her husbands Don Zimmerman and Buz Sawyer, daughter Janell Marie, and great grandchild Lucas Marek.
JoAnn is survived by sons Kent (Janet) Zimmerman and Dan (Cathy) Zimmerman. Granddaughters, Cassie (Kyle) Marek, Michelle (Bryce) Marxsen, Kelly (Mike) Wilbern, Beth (Peter) Cunningham, Amanda (Matt) Poppen and Meghan (Connor) Erickson. Great grandchildren Josephine (Brad) Hawk, Samantha, Caden and Olivia Marek. Colton, Jacob, Kason and Lane Marxsen. Tayler, Tyler, Tessa and Teagan Wilbern. Mckinley and Vivianne Cunningham. Donovan and Nicholas Erickson. Sister Gloria (Marv) Rinkol. Stepdaughters Ingrid Sawyer, Monique (Steve) Lang. Stepson Erich (Sherri) Sawyer along with many nieces and nephews.
