Joanne Elizabeth (Gannon) Chrastil
August 2, 1933 – October 29, 2018
Joanne Elizabeth (Gannon) Chrastil, 85, of Omaha, NE, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 29, 2018. She was born on August 2, 1933 in Council Bluffs, IA to Raymond Sterling & Katherine (Wierda) Gannon.
Joanne graduated from St. Joseph High School and worked as an office manager before becoming a full-time housewife and mother. She married Richard F. Konon in 1954 and they raised seven children in Kansas City, MO. She later divorced, returned to Omaha, and married Donald Chrastil in 1986.
Joanne was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, crocheting and watching professional tennis. She had a wonderful sense of humor and brought much laughter to those around her. She was always supportive of her children and her advice was truly valued.
Joanne is survived by six children: Dianne Jensen (Dean) Jensen of Nevada, IA, Julia Bean of Anaheim, CA, Teresa Balderrama of Lawrence, KS, Barbara Beck (Gary) of Shawnee, KS, John Konon (Carol) of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Michael Konon of Shawnee, KS; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia Pezdirtz; her husband, Donald Chrastil; by her son, Stephen Konon (Joyce) who passed October 14, 2018; and her grandson, David Brothers.
PRIVATE GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Friday, Nov. 16th at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha. She is deeply loved and will be missed.
