JoAnne J. Zieringer, 91, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on October 24, 2023, at the Heritage at Sterling Ridge in Omaha, NE. JoAnne Joyce (Jacobs) Zieringer was born on April 23, 1932, in Charles City, IA. The daughter of Harvey Eugene and Lola Leota (Peters) Jacobs. After attending and graduating High School in Milford, IA, she went on to attend Stevens College in Columbia, MO, receiving an Associate Degree. Her first job would take her to Chicago, IL, to work for TWA. There she met Mathew Zieringer. JoAnne was united in marriage to Mathew Zieringer on April 26, 1953, in Milford, IA. She would find herself traveling the world as a military wife, which in time grew their family, adopting two children from Germany, Mark and Kathryn.
She was a loving wife and mother, a true example throughout her husband’s military career and children’s school years. She later pursued and furthered her education, receiving a CPA undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa. Upon retirement, JoAnne and Mathew enjoyed traveling and moved from Denver, CO, to Rochester, MN. JoAnne moved to Omaha, NE, to be closer to her son after the passing of Mathew in 2019.
JoAnne is survived by her son, Mark (Cheryl) Zieringer of Omaha, NE; grandson, Joshua Harroun of Fort Collins, CO; sister, Virginia Enfield of Salem, OR; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lola; father, Harvey; husband, Mathew; daughter, Kathryn; son-in-law, George; and grandson, Heath.
