Our heartfelt sympathy to John’s family at this time of his passing. We got acquainted around 2010/2011 when we started attending dances at the Center in Council Bluffs and dances at Fremont. We found out he used to call on an implement dealer in Onawa, 8 miles from where we live at Blencoe. We so enjoyed our times together with him. He was an amazing, kind hearted man and was very interesting to visit with. We are saddened by the news of his passing so suddenly. We are thankful for the privilege of meeting him and our lives crossing paths. May you find comfort form his friends and family at this time. Ron and Sue Cutler

My deepest sympathies to Jack’s family and many friends. I doubt he met anyone who would not soon be his friend. We will all miss him greatly.

Jack Arkfeld was the “gold standard” for what the gift of friendship looks like. Our family was so blessed to have Jack in our lives. My dad, Peter Larson, and Jack met in 1954 when both were salesmen traveling to the small towns in western Iowa. Their friendship continued for almost 70 years, capped off with having Jack at New Cassell the last year.

Jack was always gracious and always acknowledged everyone in his presence. He had a sincere interest in everyone as individuals, so he was quick to make a reference to the topic you last talked about and wanted an update. You never heard him say anything disparaging about anybody. His kindness and generosity of friendship touched so many people. The Wednesday morning McDonald’s coffee outings will never be the same.

    Jack will be dearly missed.

Our hearts go out to Janet, Judy and the entire family at this difficult time. The grief that comes with losing Jack and Dennis in such a short period of time is hard to imagine.

My sincere condolences to Jack’s family, friends and Brother Knights. I served on many Knight Honor Guards with Jack. He was always friendly and welcoming even though I did not belong to his Assembly.

Long time friend with Jack. My parents where good friends with Jack (Jennie and Roy Holloway). When I saw Jack at the American Legion he would always tell me he still says a prayer for my Mom. RIP Jack.

Jon and I are so sad to hear about Jack! I just talked to him in December. He was such a wonderful neighbor to Jon’s dad for so many years.
