John Corwin

John Corwin, 79, passed away on April 13, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. Preceded in death by his parents Tolbert and Dorothy Corwin and sisters Susan Metzger and Barbara Coleman. Survivors include son Pete Corwin and daughters Erica Corwin (Corrie Roul) and Melissa Toberer (Tim Toberer); grandchildren Cody Corwin and Madison Corwin; numerous nieces and nephews; devoted caregiver for five years Delaney Dodson; and his best feathery friend of twenty years Buddy the African grey parrot.

After serving in the U.S. Army, John worked in the geotechnical engineering field for several decades. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, playing the guitar, casino trips, and Nebraska sports. In his final month he won the family’s March Madness bracket.

A private service will be held at a later date. Interment at Omaha National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Omaha VA Medical Center, Heartland Avian Rescue Project, or Omaha’s Meals on Wheels program.
