John David Dickey, 65, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 2,2022 in Omaha with family members by his side.

John was a graduate from Omaha North High School in 1975 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army to become an Air Traffic Controller. After the Army, he married and had two children, Christopher and Jessica. He loved family, softball, Nebraska Football and North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball. You could find him cheering on the Huskers every Saturday during the football season and hosting huge Husker parties. John remarried and moved on to join the Millard Public Schools I.T. team for the remainder of his career life. He became a Mason and joined Tangier Shrine in their Legion of Honor division. He was proud to hold the flags and march with his brothers down many parade paths and every year at the circus.

He loved spending time with family, friends and mostly his grandchildren. In his final years, after his wife’s passing, he was able to find love again and remarry one last time. He enjoyed his last years doing what he loved.

We know we cannot have you but we are happy knowing the angels have finally wrapped their wings around you and you are happy and at peace again.

John was preceded in death by his father, Francis Dickey. John is survived by his wife, Sheryl (Madsen/Rich) Dickey; mother, Donna Johnson; brothers: Joe Dickey, Francis Dickey (Terrie), and Michael Ehrlich (Paul Clive); his children, Christopher Dickey (Kristin) and Jessica Dickey; grandchildren: Emmerson, Blake, Conner, Lincoln, Theodore, Jayden, Jordan, and Jamie; stepchildren, Nick and Alex (Paige); multiple aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

You are gone too soon. I have such memories of fun times with you in Omaha and Virginia. You were such a special cousin. Be at peace in heaven with all of those who went before you. You were dearly loved and will be dearly remembered and missed. Till we meet. again in Heaven.
