VISITATION: Saturday, January 20, 9:30am, followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 10:30am at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 14330 Eagle Run Dr.

John D. McCann was born in Omaha on April 3, 1971, to Elmer W. McCann and C Kay (Spidle) McCann.  He passed on January 14, 2024.

John is survived by his parents, Elmer and Kay McCann; wife, Colette McCann (Reinhard); his children: Zoe, Cody, Weston, Bailey, Davis, Ziva; and grandchildren, Tommy, Charlie, Emma, and Ava.  As well as brother, Shane McCann, and sisters, Theresa Cassidy, Michelle Landolt, Jennifer Buckley, Kelly Laughlin, Megan Fletcher, Beth Jewett and Julie Hagan.

John was a firefighter with the Omaha Fire Department for 21 years.  He loved to play golf and spend time with family and friends, but most of all he loved his children and grandchildren.  He was very proud of their many accomplishments and the people they have become.

John is greatly loved and will be missed beyond measure.  He was a blessing, and his memory remains safe in our hearts.

John was my oldest friend of athletics, we were fast friends on the 8 and under Omaha Field Club Swim Team and his wonderful older sisters certainly kept us in line with Momma Kay At Omaha Creighton Prep we were locker partners and teammates on the gridiron for one critical year in 10th grade. We did everything together that year. He was always the toughest to bring down in the. running back corps of CP. When he made the Fire Department he finally found his mission. He saved a lot of lives, including mine on some nights way back when. May God give you peace now as one of Omaha’s best and bravest John.
