VIGIL SERVICE: Wednesday, December 1st at 7pm at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church (3405 S. 118th Street) with visitation from 5pm to 7ppm at the church. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Thursday, December 2nd, 10:30am at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church. Interment: St. Paul, Nebraska. Memorials may be directed to the family.

John McIntyre unexpectedly passed away on November 25, 2021. He was born on October 3, 1968, in St. Paul, Nebraska. He grew up in St. Paul, where he attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, and graduated from St. Paul High School as the Salutatorian with the class of 1987. In John’s senior year of high school, he was the recipient of the Babe Ruth Award for his involvement in sports and academics.
John attended Creighton University, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance in 1991. During John’s years at Creighton University, he enjoyed being involved in many activities, including his fraternity, Delta Upsilon. He then went on to attain is Master’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Nebraska Kearney in 2002. After working for Bank of the West for several years, John moved on to TD Ameritrade, where he established a successful financial services career spanning over two decades.
John met the love of his life, Laura, in 2005, on Valentine’s Day. And the two were wed two years later on October 6, 2007. John and Laura shared their home and hearts with their two dogs, Coco Chanel and Banksy. John loved spending time collecting art and fashion. He was always looking for new artists and trends. John will always be remembered by his friends as the “man who not only collected art, but stories.” He loved talking with people and made friends wherever he went.
He was a Creighton Bluejays basketball fan and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys. John loved riding his motorcycle and was looking forward to restoring his late father-in-law’s 1966 Honda.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Vranes; his parents, Dan and Barb McIntyre of St. Paul, Nebraska; his brother, Tom McIntyre of Kearney, Nebraska; his mother-in-law, Christyne Vranes of Omaha; his brother-in-law, Robert and his wife Kimberly Vranes of Omaha; his nieces, Leia and Taylor Vranes of Omaha; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of friends.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oren and Mary McIntyre and Chris and Marie Wittry; and aunts and uncles, Gerald Killinger, Mike McIntyre, Ruth McIntyre, and Catherine Salmen.

Laura, you and John helped make the 2013 Omaha “Play Me, I’m Yours” street piano project a tremendous success. Such a great time…especially at the Tree of Life Sculpture.
