John George Landa

John Landa, age 74 of Omaha, Nebraska peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, at the Omaha CountryHouse Residence.

John Landa was born on May 1, 1950 in Holyoke, MA to Anthony and June Landa.  He was the oldest of four children with younger brothers (Jim and Joe), and sister (Toni Marie).

He graduated from Stuttgart/Ludwigsburg High School in Luxembourg, Germany in 1968.  His father Anthony was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base where John then met the love of his life Joyce on November 17, 1968.  Shortly after they met, John left for the Air Force.  John and Joyce were married August 23, 1969, in Joyce’s hometown of Manning, Iowa.  They moved to Denver, Colorado as John was stationed there for a few months until John was deployed on a foreign service assignment in Thailand for one year.  Upon his return, they moved to Topeka, Kansas for the remainder of his service until he was honorably discharged May 23, 1972.

John and Joyce moved to Omaha where John attended Bellevue College and started a career at Electrical Products in Sales and retired in purchasing at American Fence.  John cherished spending time with his wife, two daughters, and their families.  John loved traveling and attending sporting events, especially when it involved his grandchildren.

He is in preceded in death by his parents, June and Anthony Landa, and brother Jim Landa.

John is survived by his wife Joyce of Omaha; two daughters, Crystine (Marty) Galvan of Cape Coral, FL and Jaclyn (Bob) Bunjer of Elkhorn, NE; and his grandchildren Taylor, Lauren, and Trenton; brother Joe Landa of New York; sister Toni Marie (Tibor) Kmeczik of Massachusetts; nephews, other relatives, and friends.

VISITATION: Monday, May 20th 9:30-10:30 AM. St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. 15353 Pacific Street, Omaha, NE.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Monday, May 20th at 10:30 AM. St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. 

Interment:  Omaha National Cemetery with Military Honors at 2:30 PM.
