John J. Wolff, Jr.
July 31, 1948 – January 20, 2022
After graduation from South High, John entered the U.S. Navy in 1966 and served during the Vietnam War. In 1981 he met Janet Ann (Murphy) at Duffy’s Tavern and started a relationship that shared 40 years of marriage and their only son, Brian James Wolff.
John’s varied work career started at the young age of 8 as a shoe shiner in ‘South O.’ After the military, he worked in construction before spending many years prior to retirement as a Letter Carrier for the USPS. He lived a full life with many interests. John enjoyed watching SciFi, following his favorite sports teams: Nebraska Cornhuskers, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, being a Ford Truck enthusiast, faithfully attending Chapter VI AA (30 plus years sober), and serving his parish. Most important, all his heart and soul was fully devoted to his wife, son, and grandchildren.
By whichever name he was known—John, Husband, Pa, Dad, Pugga, Johnny, or Big Book John—he will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Wolff. He is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Brian (Melissa); grandchildren: Anderson, Cora, Duncan, and Ellery; brother, Walter; sister, Ruth Ann Brandt (Ed); son, Christopher.
