Mark was born on October 29, 1933 to Emmett and Marion Clifford.  He was educated at Sacred Heart School, and immediately after graduation he took what he called a “temporary” position at MUD that lasted 45 years.  He then took a short break from MUD for a 4-year hitch in the US Navy.

On August 23, 1958 Mark married Jeanette Hoffman after a whirlwind courtship that lasted 62 years. Throughout those 62 years, Mark and Jeanette have touched many, many lives, because you can’t say “Mark” without also saying “Jeanette.”

Mark’s legacy to the Clifford Family:  “You’ll do it my way, the right way” because he was always right!

He is loved and missed.

We are so sorry for your loss.
The photo of Mark is exactly the way I always remembered him. He always had a smile, and was always giving of himself to help others. He was someone we admired for wanting to help anyone whose lives were not as fortunate as others, never wanting anything in return. This world needs more people like Mark. The gates to heaven were wide open in anticipation of his arrival. The angels sang, and God welcomed him with open arms.
When people say God only accepts the very Best, they are right, because Mark was one of those people. He will be missed by so many, but the love and memories of a wonderful life lived remains in our hearts forever.
Love and Prayers to you all.

Jeannette, I am so sorry that Mark is gone. I do agree with other comments that the two of you were always mentioned together. I am sure it will be hard without him. Know that Mark will be in my prayers and masses in the days ahead. May he be at peace with the Lord and may you be confident in the Lord’s gift of eternal life for him. Peace, Fr. Larry Hoffmann

Jeanette – You probably don’t know me but I was lucky enough to know Mark through the Knights of Columbus. He and I were in the same council. I am very saddened and sorry for your loss. Mark was a reliably upbeat and energetic person I came to expect to always have a good word or joke to share.
I will miss him very much. Please know that his welcoming nature has helped many other older gentlemen engage and find friends with the Knights. He was always looking for a ‘personal connection’ to make things ‘real’ for new members. My own father-in-law is only one example of someone new but unsure of how to connect to others who Mark helped.

    God Bless
    Eron
