John “Jack” was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 27, 1940 to parents Freda (Kurz) and Bruno Swierczynski. He attended St. Joseph High School where he played football. It was there that he met a beautiful cheerleader and the love of his life, Joanna (Coniglio). Together they created a beautiful life and legacy in their children: John Jr., Lori, and Michael.
John “Jack” loved the outdoors and was often found tending his lawn, looking out for squirrels, and fishing in South Dakota waiting for his next big catch. His greatest joy was time spent with family and friends. He will be remembered best by his many cookouts and fish fries.
John “Jack” was preceded in death by his parents, Freda Kurz and Bruno Swierczynski; sister, Joan Daywalt; and granddaughter, Amy Swirzinski. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joanna; son, John Jr. (Jacque); daughter, Lori Moehn (Jeff); son, Michael (Martha); grandchildren: Paul Swirzinski (Ann), Jane Luethge (Jeff), Kristy Fortinberry (Nick), Hannah and Ava Swirzinski, and Chelsea Hansen (Dillon); great-grandchildren: Sophia and Ben Luethge, and Hudson and Camden Fortinberry, Brother-in-law Sam (Linda) Coniglio and Beloved Aunt Helen (Walter-dec.) Neneman.

My deepest condolences to Joanne and the family. I have fond memories of cousin Jack when I was a small boy going fishing with him and my dad at Carter Lake and Riverview Park.. wearing his hand down clothes from aunt Frida and playing in his football cleats my freshman year in high school. Jack always had a smile and treated me fairly. He will be missed.RIP. Maximilian
So very sorry to hear about Jacque’s father in law. I hope your celebration will have lots of good memories shared and written down for the future generations to know. Love, Joanne from Swim class
Thinking of you and your family as you celebrate the life of your beloved father. May your happy memories give you peace and comfort during this challenging time. Breyfogle Family
Those we love can never be more than a thought away; for as long as there’s a memory, they live on in our hearts.
Our most sincere sympathy to you and your family. We pray your happy memories bring you comfort and peace.
Dave and Denise.
I’m so sorry for your loss and I pray that God comforts you through such a difficult time. I only got to meet Jack one time but I have to say it’s a nice memory. He and Joanne bantering with each other was so funny that when I think back on it, I feel blessed that I got to witness the love and friendship they had with one another. Difficult times do pass but memories never do so I pray that his memory lives on in your family. Take care, Teresa
Joanne, Lori, John, and Michael,
I’m sending you all my heartfelt thoughts and prayers during what I know is a difficult time. I have so many fond memories of Jack from over the years, and I couldn’t help but smile as Michael beautifully honored him today. When the final song played, I could vividly picture Jack lounging in his fold-up chair on your patio during the ’70s, wearing a floppy fishing hat, and enjoying the music from a transistor radio.
Although I wasn’t able to attend the service in person, I was grateful to be able to watch it online. It was a touching tribute, and I thank you for making it available.
Wishing you all peace and comfort during this time.
Sincerely,
