John Richard Reisbick
February 19, 1932 – January 26, 2024
John Richard Reisbick was born February 19, 1932, in York, Nebraska to John R. Reisbick and Clara (Hild) Reisbick. He passed away on January 26, 2024, in Omaha Nebraska.
John was raised in York graduating from York High School in 1950. John played golf and basketball for the Dukes. He attended Doane College on a golf scholarship. John followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a bricklayer, a career that lasted 41 years. Over the years he enjoyed traveling to see not only the many buildings he had built throughout Nebraska but other parts as well.
During the 1950s, John proudly served for 7 years as an Airman in the US Naval Reserves. He served with the reserve squadron located in Lincoln, Nebraska and spent time in Pensacola, Florida.
John met his wife Betty in York, and they were married in 1953. They lived in York and several other small towns until they settled in North Platte, Nebraska where they raised their two daughters, Cheryl and Laurie. They had 70 wonderful years of marriage.
John retired from bricklaying in 1994. This gave time to enjoy his love of golf, fishing, and time with his family especially his grandchildren. In 2017, John and Betty moved to Omaha to be closer to their children.
John was a huge Husker football and volleyball fan. He was also a fan of the many teams that his grandchildren played on. Even while living in North Platte, he made sure he saw every game he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Reisbick; sisters: Janet, Jane and Marjorie.
John is survived by Betty, his wife of 70 years; daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Decker and Laurie (Brent) Villone; grandchildren: Kate, Greg, Jacob and Alex; nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Saturday, February 17, 2024, 12:00NOON at the West Center Chapel, followed by Funeral Service at 1:00PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Nebraska Alzheimer’s Association.

Betty and Family,
John ” Swampy” was such a dear person to me. I loved all of our conversations, whether they were at the golf course, or his ornery voice-mails he liked leaving for me. His sense of humor had me giggling and his love for Betty was inspiring. Lots of love for you all.
