JOHNSTON, John Robert May 23, 1925 March 31, 2014 WWII Navy veteran. Longtime Nebraska educator, serving as Superintendent for the communities of Elmwood, Polk, Hooper, Crete, Kearney, Ralston, and Valley. Preceded in death by beloved son, Jim. Survived by wife of 65 years, Aileen; four sons: John of Culver City, California, Jef and wife Susie, Jed and wife Nancy, and Joel, all of Omaha; daughter-in-law, Patty, of Omaha; 12 grandchildren: Kyle (Angela), Scott (Rhonda), Jason and Adam, all of California, Ryan (Maria) of New York City, Lindsay (Joseph) of Dover, Delaware, Alyssa (Carlos) of Tampico, Mexico, Brandon (Nikki), Colin (Kim), Michael, Evan, and Drew, all of Omaha; 3 great-grandchildren: Madison and Cameron of California, and Morgan of Omaha. The family will receive friends Friday, April 4th, from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Saturday, April 5th, at 2pm at the West Center Chapel. Memorials to Avenue Scholars Foundation.
