John W. “Jack” Cooney

Preceded in death by wife, Ann Cooney; daughters, Laura Fitzgarrald and Patricia Cooney. Survived by children: Peggy Teplitsky (Carl), Jack Cooney (Ginny), Terry Cooney (Andrea), Gerry Cooney (Mary), Lee Ann Cooney (Forrest Hughes), Jim Cooney (Chris), and Matt Cooney; twenty grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 7th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Thursday, Feb. 8th at 10:30am at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Thursday, 1:30pm, Calvary Cemetery in Elkhorn, NE. Memorials are suggested to Special Olympics “Tennis Buddies.”

Jack Cooney was a member of the West Omaha Diamond Kiwanas Club where I first meet him when he was the President of the club. He was an outstanding person and helped the club get rolling along. His strong leadership set an example of how the club was going to be and difficult to person to follow in a leadership role! I was able to meet his wife before she died and we went to his son, the doctor, before moving South to Arkansas. Best wishes to his family in this time to remember him.
