Joseph A. “Joe” Gouldsmith

November 9, 1934 – January 14, 2022

 VISITATION: Wednesday, January 19th from 10am to 11am at the West Center Chapel, followed by SERVICE at 11am.  Interment, Graceland Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Joe passed away at his home in Omaha, Nebraska on January 14, 2022. 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda; two daughters, Judy Gouldsmith, Jo Hanson (Dennis); son, Jeff Gouldsmith (Shari); four grandchildren: Judi, Laura, Ben, Matt; six great-grandchilden: Haley, Allison, Tyler, Zoey, Lindsey, Jack; two nephews, Terry Jones (Joyce) and Tim Jones.

Joe was preceded in death by parents, Ralph C. and Eva E. Gouldsmith; sister, Joan Blackman.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Joe graduated from Central High School in 1952.  He spent his working years as a car mechanic, grocery store manager, and a tree trimmer.  He retired in the late 1990s after 24 years as a machine operator at Crown Cork and Seal.

Joe and Wanda took several long-distance motorcycle trips, such as Branson and the Ozarks, while Joe went on solo rides to Wyoming and South Dakota, among other places.

At Central Presbyterian Church, Joe and Wanda were part of a “breakfast club” and assisted in various service clubs in Omaha.  They also volunteered in packing groceries at Together, Inc.

Joe loved country music, western movies, WWII documentaries, and getting together with family.
